Graveyard/The Altar Of Sculpted Skulls/Pulverised Records/2012 CD Review

Graveyard  are  a  band  from  Spain  that  plays  a  mixture  of  Swedish  style  death  metal,  d-beat  and  doom/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "The  Altar  Of  Sculpted  Skulls"  which  was released  by  Pulverised  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  of  the  guitars,  as  for  the  synths  which  are  only  utilized  briefly  they  add  another  dimension  of  darkness  to  the  music  without  being  a  lead  instrument.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  Swedish  style  death  metal,  doom  and  d-beat  together  with  some  dark  sounding  melodies  to  create  a  sound of  their  own  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  and  chaotic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  with  some  high  pitched  screams  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  occult and  morbid  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  to  it  that  has  the  90's  style  death  metal  feeling.

In  my  opinion  Graveyard  are  a  very  great  sounding  death/doom metal/d-beat  hybrid  and  if  you  are a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Altar  Of  Sculpted  Skulls"  and  "Ritual".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
