Huata/Open The Gates Of Shambhala/Throatruiner Records/2010 CD Review

Huata  is  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  mixture  of  stoner  rock,  doom/death,  sludge  and  classic  doom  metal  with  an  occult  edge  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2010  album  "Open  The  Gates  Of  Shambhala"  which  was  released  by  Throatruiner  Records.

Drums  are  all  slow  playing  with  no  fast  drumming  or  blast  beats  present  on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  tone  with  some  heavy  70's  stoner  style  doom  metal  riffs.

Rhythm  are  all  slow  70's  stoner  doom  metal  riffs  that  mix  in  the  heaviness  of  sludge  and  doom/death  metal  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on this  recording.

Vocals  are  mostly  clean  singing  vocals   in  the classic  doom  metal  vein    mixed  in  with  some  heavy  doom/death  metal  growls  and  high  pitched  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  stoner  and  occult  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  heavy,  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Huata  are  a  very  great  and  heavy  sounding  occult  doom  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Alchemist  Reborn"  and  "Josef  Fritzi  Syndrom".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
